Ben currently works in the EU institutions, fighting disinformation surrounding the Coronavirus crisis. In previous roles within Brussels bubble he has drafted policy briefs and speeches for EU officials and has written articles, blogs and social media posts. One particularly memorable experience was working on a speech for Mariya Gabriel, the Commissioner for Innovation, Research, Culture, Education and Youth.
Ben also writes on European affairs and EU issues for various journals. He contributes a weekly column on culture and Europe for the online EU affairs journal Europa United, discussing everything creative and EU from why Brussels diplomacy needs to get more artistic to how the Italian Sardine movement is harnessing culture to fight Salvini. He has recently written on European literature for the European journal Are We Europe.
He has also had a poem commissioned by the EU body the European Research Council (ERC) and performed at a ceremony to celebrate the work of ERC President Jean-Pierre Bourguignon.
He has recently appeared on several editions of the popular EU affairs podcast EU Scream, discussing the links between EU administration, fighting disinformation and poetry – and performing the odd Coronavirus-relevant poem!
Ben is keen to collaborate with other journalists in the European sphere, and is available for commissions and projects and general journalist reportage. You can find his contact details here.
